I am still looking, but so far its a great site. I am trying to trace the origins of the name Ward. Recently my Great Grandfather passed on but not before sharing years of history with us about the family that goes back before the Civil War. I am also trying find when our branch immigrated from Britain into Savannah GA with the other settlers.

While I am researching the surname Ward, I also am researching Warburton. This family was in Bury, Lancashire and were involved with the Cotton Mills, It was great to see the picture of the Weavers Cottages and wonder if they were near Ormond Street or Rochdale Road? I am looking for my ward ancestors. My grandfather Frederick Charles Ward was born in San Francisco July 1898. He was in the earthquake and survived after being separated from his family for a week.
