I greatly enjoyed the info. on the Cotton Mills as I had just watched a production from BBC "North and South" Living in America and our lack of a long history, I have always been fascinated with England's. I am searching for my ancestors for a few years especially McQueen side I was born in Dublin Ireland living in USA sunny California cold and sunny today McQueens originated in Scotland where I found my gggrandfather Owen McQueen married in Mochrum Wigtown to Margaret Copeland The whole family migrated in 1850s I found them in 1861 Toxteth Hall,Liverpool census I found William Owen b.1858 Liverpool married to Eliz Duvall I dont have certificates~Owen born 1816 Ireland no records found They had several children all born Mochrum some christened Church of Scotland Wigtownshire I found some info on LDS familysearch.com William Owen born 1858 married1879 St Silas Liverpool to Eliz Duvall one child 1880 Margaret Christened StSilas Liverpool William was youngest son born Liverpool His sister Margaret born 1844 married George H Ward 1869 StSilas L'Pool Children are John James(my line)Peter Elizabeth & Margaret.

Richard Ward (20 December 1856) came from Sussex, England. He was one of 12 children. His father was called George. Richard married Frances Taylor. They immigrated to America in 1883, settling first in New York and then later in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The names Artemus Edgar, Robert, George, and Richard are prominent as first names for our Ward family I should be properly ecstatic if I were able to trace our roots further back in England. |
